University of Bath   MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice

Centre for Action Research in Professional Practice : www.bath.ac.uk/carpp

The Centre was formed in 1993 to develop the theory and practice of action research.

A major strand of its work is the Postgraduate Programme in Action Research that leads to Diploma, Masters and PhD degrees. Through this, professionals use action research to address questions for the improvement of their practice and develop theories grounded in these investigations.

The Centre is recognised internationally for its contributions to the development of self-reflective and collaborative forms of action research.

CARPP, with the New Academy of Business, runs the MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice:

This course addresses the challenges facing society as we seek to integrate business practice with a concern for social, environmental and ethical issues. It looks at the complex relationship between business decisions and their impact on local and world communities and economies, on the environment and on the workplace.

Participants will develop management practices that are responsive to pressures for greater awareness in these areas. They will face a wide range of perspectives on business, all of which challenge ideas about where "responsibility" begins and ends.

Handbook of Action Research
Handbook of Action Research Participative Inquiry and Practice
Peter Reason (Editor), Hilary Bradbury (Editor), 2000
Sage
ISBN: 0761966455 - order from Amazon

A comprehensive collection of essays from leading proponents of Action Research. This book draws together the different strands of action research, demonstrating their diverse applications and showing their interrelations. Far-reaching in scale and scope, the Handbook informs readers about the latest approaches, both quantitative and qualitative, in social inquiry, and moves the field forward with fresh insights and applications. Throughout, the contributing authors grapple with questions of how to integrate knowledge with action, how to collaborate with co-researchers in the field, and how to present the necessarily 'messy' components in a coherent fashion. The organization of the volume reflects the many different issues and levels of analysis represented.
