First Pages is only available to organisations that are building a just and sustainable future.
Private courses
Courses may be private for small groups to work together, often as part of a larger learning experience. An online component allows students to prepare themselves well before attending expensive face-to-face sessions, and afterwards the online course is a way to consolidate learning and maintain connections with tutors and fellow students through the course discussion forums.
Public courses
Where specific group interaction is not required a public course will reach a much wider audience. First Pages provides a way for anyone to register and enroll on a course, paying by credit card or cheque.
Developing an online course
There are usually five stages:
1. Definition
Stating the reason for the course, how it fits into existing learning programmes and what the objectives are. It includes understanding the capabilities and needs of the students.
2. Design
Working out what exactly the course will cover and what structure it should have. An online course will usually have one linear route through it, but with side branches and links to a variety of supporting material.
3. Origination
This stage is about writing the words, finding images, drawing pictures and recording audio or video as needed.
4. Authoring
After origination comes authoring where the material is transformed into Web format within the eLearning technical environment.
5. Testing
A formal period of testing with real students is necessary.
Our network of consultants are willing to help you with stages 1 to 3 and 5 if needed. Stage 4 (Authoring) we are happy to do for free and we do not charge any hosting fees or minimums - we take the risk and only charge a per student fee.
